Rendered Wall Height in Patio

Hi, I am looking to get some advice in regards to some building work that I am getting done.

I am currently getting a new extension built with a new kitchen and dining area (30sqm) and at the back of this I will have a patio area which is 7m wide and 3.7m long.

On the right hand side of the patio will be 3/4 steps to take you to a flat garden. The height of the patio to the garden level is 1.6m high.

The builder has now asked me as to high I want the wall in the patio area from the floor level and I mentioned that 0.5m should be fine.

I am now having doubts if the height is sufficient enough as I do have young kids and just concious in regards to that.

Would appreciate it if anyone could advise as to what i should do.

Thanks in advance

The higher the wall, the less safe it is. 50cm is fine, really. What's the other option?

I can't quite grasp what you're saying. The ground level of the patio is 1.6m lower than the garden?

Rendering isn't the most practical option for a garden wall. Bricks are more forgiving when movement occurs or the wall doesn't get much sunlight so close to the house and goes green.

Half a metre is just right for sitting on. Bare bricks are better, rendered garden walls never last.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

What is on the other side of the wall? It seems a bit low (0.5 m) as it could easily tumble little ones over it if they were moving towards it without looking.
