How to clean a mouse?

I currently have a Logitech MX510 laser mouse which I've owned for a few years. Buttons have quite a bit of dirt stuck down the sides and it's not clicking properly. Anyone know a good way to clean them? There's no screws I can see to take it apart

You'll probably find that the screws are hidden underneath the little pads on the base.
If you take the four of them off and stick them on a glass, they are unlikely to lose their adhesiveness too much, so when you screw it all back together, you can stick them back on again
There may well also be a screw underneath the Logitech label. Run your finger over it, and you may feel an indentation. If you do, as it is now out of warranty, I would imagine, you can peel off that label.
Take it apart carefully and use toluene (nail varnish remover to you and me), or some cheap vodka you may have sitting in your drinks cabinet to clean the electrical contacts before screwing it all back together again0 -
Was under the labels, thanks. Put it back together again minus a small spring (have no idea where it goes!) but seems to be working well.

I clean mine every fortnight using an ultrasonic cleaner bought via eBay. Only drawback is it takes 3 days to dry out in our hot cupboard so I have to have two mice and alternate between them.0

Help never thought of cleaning the mouse til now-- looked at mine and its bad--eek0

You can do a quick clean by twisting off the mouse ball retainer underneath. I found a toothpick is good for cleaning the crevices.0

Only works for a mouse with a ball though. The op's mouse is an optical one. I'm not sure how many people use ball mice nowadays.
I do remember in the good old days spending ages cleaning my balls to improve responsiveness!
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -

Ahh yes I remember those days. Nowadays though we're all castrated."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Yes with these newfangled optical mice, can no longer play the April 1st trick of removing the mouse ball then await office colleague to arrive & start using computer!0

No but you can put some black tape over the opening. Just as effective although not quite as funny as the aftermath of actually hunting for a ball to use."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
