Shattered conservatory roof panel

We walked into our conservatory to find this today;

I have no idea how it happened. There’s no obvious sign of impact or anything I can see up on the roof that looks like it fell on the roof. I suppose a bird could have dropped a stone but I can’t see one.

It’s just the outside pane of glass.

A few questions I guess:

* How safe is this until we get it replaced? The inside of the unit has a solar film applied to it if that makes any difference.
* What else could have caused this? The conservatory is 13 years old. We have only lived here for 3 years, I don’t know if these are the original sealed units.
* How much should I expect to pay to get this replaced? Is it a relatively straightforward job, like replacing any other sealed unit?

Annoyingly I guess we will also need to get the person who did the window film to come back and apply it to the new glass or it will look odd! It cost £500 for the whole roof before (10 panels) so I expect that will add another £50-100 to the overall cost.

    I had a good look from out of the upstairs bedroom window - there's no sign of any debris on the panel or at the bottom in the box gutter.

    Toughened glass can just shatter for no apparent reason. Sometimes there are impurities in the glass sometimes it is just the stresses created during the manufacturing process.

    Take off the roof bar end caps, if the glass retainer is metal without a rubber buffer there's a chance that could be the cause
