    MIB is widely recognised.

    It's only an acronym if it's pronounced "mib", rhyming with bib. If it's pronounced "M.I.B." then it's an initialism.

    Acronyms are initialisms that are pronounced as words, such as PIN, RADAR, etc. Things like BBC, ITV and LP are initialisms.

    Exactly. And for that reason TLA stands for Three Letter Abbreviation, not Acronym.
