Capital One Deplorable double hard search

Just thought I should warn ALL users that on 17 September 2017 I initiated a application for a Luma credit card to help with my low fair credit score. The deplorable company undertook a ‘hard credit search’ on the 17th and 18th the application was declined and my credit score decreased! Recently I decided to access ALL three credit reference agencies (Equifax, Call Credit (Noodle) & Experian) the scores were / are (Equifax 378, Experian 999 & Noodle 605). I discovered that Clydesdale Finance (Barclays) decided to list ‘everyones’ closed accounts in February 2018 which affected my Equifax score (check yours as well) I wrote to Barclays and they removed all three items entries and my Equifax score increased to 462 (just under the line of excellent)

Back to Capital One only on Noodle showed both hard searches and when I initially contacted Capital One they denied they did 2 searches only on the second call I gave them the two search references and then they agreed to remove the second search!

So the learning lessons

1) Check Noodle to make sure only one search is performed
2) Check ALL 3 credit reference agencies
3) If you have had a previous Clydesdale Finance / Barclays Loan Account then check Equifax / ClearScore so you can get them removed

Hope this helps

Scores are made up, they are irrelevant. Nobody but you sees them.

Have a cup of tea and biscuit and chill.

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • Actually the lessons learnt here are:

Hard searches are carried out for credit applications.

    Admin mistakes happen.

And finally, ignore the made up scores that no one sees who cares about or judges your credit-worthiness on.

No, they go by your credit history. The score is a made up number designed to sell people products.

It’s a !!!!ing fact that hard searches impact your score so you both !!!!!! with your pathetic opinion as they do go by the score idiots

I do hope you are paying the Credit Agencies to see your 'score'. Its the least you deserve.
