Hi,
No matter whether I play CDs, DVDs or any video file, I can't, any longer, get any sound from my P.C., bar the background hiss when I turn up the sound to "10".
I hadn't installed or removed any software from the P.C. or added any new hardware, prior to the sound disappearing.
I've tried the Sound Card in another PCI slot (on the motherboard) and re-installed the "Sound Card" Driver software and checked everything is correctly connected, but to no avail.
I've, also, run all the anti-virus, -malware, etc., software but nothing has turned-up and have tried the speakers on my laptop and they do work, as normal.
What should I do next?
Thanks.

Had a fiddle with the wires?
Is anything showing amiss in device manager?
Tried a reboot?0 -
Just thought of another have you checked that the sound has not been muted?0

Hi,
I've checked all of the wires to ensure everything is still correctly connected and switched on.
Control panel > Performance ... > System > Hardware > Device Manager > [Double-click] Sound, Video ... > [Right-click on Sound-card] > Properties
I've checked the properties displayed in "Properties" and, to my knowledge, everything seems fine and I've worked through "Troubleshoot..." to eliminate all the obvious causes.
Still no joy.0
