FTB Query: Offer Accepted, When to Do What, When?

Hi FTB here,
Have had offer on house accepted, we have got back the qualified acceptance from seller which we were happy with. Mortgage offer from our lender is with solicitor and our deposit is ready to transfer to solicitor.
Now what can we do. We have got a completition date of 26th November.
Can I now start to organise house insurance, and get quotes, and even arrange cover? We need to be insured as part of mortgage agreement.
Is it also ok to ask to go and visit the house for sake of measuring up rooms? Is this best done through solicitor or with sellers direct?
Thanks for reading

Hi, I'm FTB too!
If I were you I'd get quotes and decide on who you are going to get your insurance with. Then on the day of exchange you can put it in place.
To measure up I would arrange through the estate agent or the sellers directly.
Good luck, hope everything goes ok x0 -
No harm in looking for quotes etc however do not pay for insurance until exchange - things will more than likely go smoothly but don't cause yourself any more stress than required. You can request another viewing to measure up however again maybe wait until exchange - so as to ensure no one is aggrieved or feels pressured. If you have a good relationship and communication with the seller - go direct. If not - go to the agent. Have all your searches and enquiries come back - these are the usual delaying points of a purchase. Also is everyone else ready in the chain?0

About insurance, when I was enquiring about quotes for my new house yesterday, I was offered a free first month of insurance including a cooling off period of a month. Snapped that offer up as if anything goes wrong between exchange and completion I will have nothing to pay. That was direct line. I bet other insurers would offer similar if you explain your situation and say you are comparing offers. :money:0

Thanks for all the help guys. Will phone around for quotes now. The house is non standard build - timber framed - so will need to phone rather than use net as none of companies seem to quote for this build.
Will phone sellers to come and see if we can measure up rooms - we went and viewed the house twice and they seemed friendly when they look us around.0
