Confusion Over Pension
Comments

.... hopefully five years ago!
They used to send a letter to all males approaching female SPa inviting them to claim the winter fuel payment via the Winter Fuel Payment system. I assume this is still the case.0 -
No ......my Mrs. gets £200 fuel allowance, I assume that we both would not get it.......Retired (Early) April 20150

As I suspected......only one of us could claim it.......Retired (Early) April 20150

If there are two people at the same address who are both over female SPa then both are expected to claim and they will both get the shared rate - £100.
It all comes out the same (two 100s rather than one 200) but technically neither partner is entitled to the single rate even if the other hasn't claimed.
Since you will be claiming SP by the qualifying week (in September) you will get it automatically at the shared rate any way.0 -
I took early retirement, on 30th April 2015.....my NI record shows that 2015/16 is not full, which is correct.....however my record for 2016/17 IS full, so I have already received one free year......presumably 2017/18 will be the other free year ?Retired (Early) April 20150

Yes, it will be. Will you actually need it?
[STRIKE]And, if you need any more, you could pay class 3 for 2015/16 (although it sounds as if you won't need to).[/STRIKE]
Edit: 2015/16 wouldnt get anything as the OP is already above the old rules basic pension of £122.30.0 -
No, I shouldn't need any extra years, to get the higher figure, so I expect another letter at some point.....Retired (Early) April 20150

I don't think 2015/16 would count even if needed as the OP already has 40 yrs NI0
