DVD Players with upscalling

Options
I have a very old DVD player and am considering replacing it with a more modern simple one with HD upscalling. I have heard that the LG DP542H is one to consider at between £32 and £35. Is that correct or any other suggestions

I didn’t think they still made DVD players anymore. Why not just buy a Blu-ray player instead.

That’s right. Most newer BR players have 4K upscaling built in.

Just be aware new players won't have scart connection your TV needs to have HDMI socket

OP says he wants HD upscaling so if their tv supports HD it will have a HDMI input.

There are plenty of DVD players still available.

You can even buy them very cheaply in supermarkets etc.

However, I agree buying a Blu-Ray player might be a better option as it's perfectly possible to also play old DVDs in them. They'll also upscale far more efficiently.

I also agree with the other poster who mentioned the possible SCART issue. If the OP requires a SCART connection to the TV (because it's as old as the DVD player?) then there will be no upscaling apparent.

I have a lot of old DVD that I occasionally play so a Blue Ray player would be no good to me.unless they play DVD's. Do all Blue Ray players play old DVD. Also I suspect a blue ray player will be a lot more expensive than the LG DVD player I was looking at costing £35.

Yes, a bluray player will play DVD,s
Is your TV HD? If it is not upscaling will make no difference to the picture.

You want upscaling quality, but only want to pay peanuts.

You'll get only what you pay for.

As already stated, Blu-Ray players do play DVDs.

I bought a 3D Samsung Blu-ray player for £70 new (BD-J5500) last week; you don't need to spend much.

Your suggestion is twice the price the Op wants to pay.

    3D is dead.
