Want to buy a brand new van, maybe like the vauxhall vivaro - they seem to be about £17k new? is that right? I have no ideas on buying vehicles or how to get a good deal. Going to walk down to the vauxhall dealership today because they must be trusted right? Any tips?
The plan is to get a new van so me and the mrs can stay in the back overnight when travelling around the UK - 1 or 2 nights max etc. Dont want 2nd hand since we will just get scammed based on having no clue.

Is this for real!
If you want to buy a new, commercial van just so you can occasionally stay in the back overnight. If this isn't a wind-up then seriously look at getting a dedicated camper rather than what you're currently considering.0 -

What vehicle would you suggest then?
Why a dedicated camper though? its mostly going to be 1 night, so 8 hours on a mattress.
Was thinking of getting something that looks stealth so basically we can pull up anywhere.0 -
8 hrs on an airbed or thermarest in an uninsulated, pitch-black, windowless metal box...?0

Do you have another vehicle that you can drive around in? If so, compare the first year depreciation on a standard van to the number of nights that you could pay for in a B&B or hotel. A second-hand van (or converted camper) on the other hand...0

Right so i need a 2nd hand van or converted camper then hmmm, dont know enough to assess 2nd hand vehicles.
Could also be using it day to day, its handy for our business, but a van not necessary needed.
We bought a cheap brand new ford KA 10 years ago and its been amazing, was hoping to do the same with a van.0 -
Yeah so to confirm it would be our only vehicle.0

If you need a "new" vehicle then the sensible thing to do would be to get a decent, used car, that will meet all your needs and as another poster suggested the amount saved in depreciation alone would easily pay for overnight stays in somewhere much more comfortable.0
