    OK concise answer:

Wii play is an additional game you can buy comprising 9 minigames and 1 controller cost £30 ish (Do not buy from ebay as many people sell JUST the game). Wii play is not very good imo, but when you consider the cost of a controller on its own is good VFM.

A second controller is worth having (which you can get with Wii Play) but you might also want to get a 2nd Nun Chuk attachment cost £15.

Don't waste money on the tennis racket and golf club attachment bit, thewy are a waste of time and money.

The best games for the Wii are (generally considered to be):
Zelda (very good and very big a bit too long foer me if I'm honest!)
Resident Evil 4 (Awesome, I love this game)
    Mario Galaxy Out in November
Metroid Prime 3 Out in November

If you have a TFT/Plasma TV you may consider buying a component cable, this will give you a slightly better quality picture.

    Online shops:
    Play.com
    blahdvd.com
    shopto.net
    .....

I would not get one or any other console for that matter unless I had more money than sense :rotfl:

I wouldn't buy a season ticket no matter what team it was for. Everyone enjoys different things. At least with the Wii there's physical activity involved (even more so when they bring out the balanceboard). And it's far cheaper than the other current consoles as well as being more socially/family oriented, you could spend the same money on much worse luxuries.

I played bowling on the wii against a 7 year old and a 72 year old last week, in the same game. And I kicked both their butts. :rotfl:
  • you know, the wii strikes me as the type of console that would appeal to everyone but your typical 33 yr old gamer. with it's emphsis on party and simple sports games (at least from the marketing about atm) and trying to sell things through new interfaces (wiimote etc) rather than a really powerful system, your typical game obsessed late teens / twentys / early thirties user may well be more interested in an xbox (great for mods) ps3 (great for power / future gaming prospects) or a pc (great for everything) and only bother with the wii to mess about with the interface and get the wiimote working on a pc (which it seems to do great). plus, all the games aimed at the 20s market (resi evil et al) are likely to be executed much better on a more powerful system.

for early teens / kids / parents / grandparents, bowling and shaking a virtual bottle around would appear to be the epitimy of fun right now.
  • I've got a wii for my kids for xmas (aged 7 and 9).

I have got a few games to go with it inc wii play, spongebob, lego star wars.
I have also got Crash of the Titan (more for me than the kids!)

My brother has mentioned that we will find it nearly impossible to play games such as crash with the wii controller and nunchuck and that i'd be better off buying a traditional controller.

    Any thoughts??

    Thanks

nah, no age limit, I imagine only lack of mobility would stop anyone having fun with it. I've got grown-up kids & a Wii's top of my must-have list, but I'll wait till after Xmas

I love games, have done since the days of the good(?) ol' Speccy :D

wee (Wii?) word of warning, you guys talking about chipping & downloading/pirate games are likely to get this thread pulled/deleted
