Tracker funds - can anyone help me?

Im looking to invest approx 75pds a month in a UK Tracker fund. I did have a Virgin Index tracker but Im lead to believe that the charge of 1% is quite high. I have read through a few threads and it appears that the main recommendation is to use Hargreaves Lansdown - but what funds have the lowest charges and perform ok?

Any help very much appreciated.

First decide what you want to track.
The all share index was considered best as the ftse 100 was risky and poorly performing but a lot of analysts think the ftse 100 is now undervalued and might perform better.

    Fidelity moneybuilder has low charges.
    Have a look at

But it'll only show past performance - maybe not so useful in these turbulent times.

You'll probably get people telling you not to invest in trackers - up to you whether you believe them.

I'm not a fan, but I think they have their place where people are concerned that active management isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Entirely depends on your outlook, I guess.

Just so you know, I think that Hargreaves Lansdown are fantastic for what I invest in, but others have said that for trackers they're not that great. Probably because there's little to no commission for them with tracker funds.

Someone who regularly invests in trackers should be able to give you the pros and cons of a few brokers.

To take L&G for example they are cheaper than Virgin but not the cheapest for example L&G FTSE All Share is 0.5% management charge. Charges are identical if you use L&G or H&L but H&L have a much better customer service than L&G which in my expereince is dire,

I've always had good CS from L&G. I've also been happy with trackers at M&G. Both low charges. I'm going down the more active funds route atm.
