Removing dent from stainless steel?

Afternoon folks

Ive just had a new Bosch cooker hood installed and have noticed a small dent in the stainless steel on top of the main hood (its a flat top chimney hood)

Im not sure if this was caused during installation or was like that in the box (which wouldn't surprise me as my Bosch integrated microwave was badly scratched straight out of the box!!)

Anyway.... seeing this small dent does niggle me so I wondered if anyone has ever had any success in removing similar dents?

Google suggests dry ice, hairdryers etc but I don't want to waste time on these things if they don't work!

Many thanks for any suggestions :) If it cant be helped Ill just have to live with it ha!

Who purchased and installed the cooker hood?

If you employed someone to do it then they should repair or replace it.

You might be able to beat it out in a manner similar to car body panel beating if you can access the reverse side.

My builder installed after I bought it but I wouldn't accuse him without knowing- I imagine it came like that and just didn't notice upon installation. I'll have a look and see if I can get behind it thank you.

I think if you try to fix it yourself you'll end up looking back fondly to when there was just one small dent.

Maybe someone who does paintless dent removal (smart repairs) for car would be able to sort, if they can access the rear of the dent?

I think you will probably end up with a more noticeable mark if you try & do anything with it.
Disguise it would be better & simpler.......

Don't know if they would attempt a repair on stainless steel but you could try one of the mobile paintless dent removal people that carry out work on cars. They can produce excellent results on car body dents but the stainless may be too heavy a gauge for it to be effective.

There's an edition of Wheeler Dealers where they do up a Delorean that had a dent in the bonnet. They found a guy who specialises in dents in stainless steel. Probably not financially viable for the extractor hood though..
