Joint Account Switch Referral Bonus

Hi All,
I'm looking into opening the nationwide flex direct account (for the 5% savings) and a nationwide flexplus account (a joint account with my partner). They obviously have the £100 (£200 split) referral bonus for signing up.
Is there a way that I can refer my partner/my partner can refer me to get the bonus if I open one account then refer the other? Does it work like this?

Sign up for accounts individually then make your wife's account a joint account (after receipt of the bonus).0
