O/S Daily Sunday 8th April 2018

This is an !!!8220;over the garden fence!!!8221; type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It!!!8217;s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we!!!8217;re going to do today or what we!!!8217;ve achieved already. Everyone!!!8217;s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn!!!8217;t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don!!!8217;t post large pictures, or clip art !!!8211; links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don!!!8217;t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH and myself are enjoying peaceful cuppas, boys still in their pits.

Now light and raining steadily, forecast is for rain most of the day. Yesterday wasn't too bad and the sun did appear eventually.

Dinner last night was chicken curry, veg curry, rice and accompaniments - all eaten and enjoyed. Remembered to get the joint of pork out to defrost, so we'll be having roast pork and the trimmings for lunch.

We visited the parents yesterday afternoon so today will be a chilled day, as grass was cut and a couple of jobs got done in the garden.

Keep safe and well x

Morning all, thank you for starting us off nmlc.

I have excelled myself by getting up at 3. I'd been awake for a while but at that point decided that I wasn't likely to get back to sleep. At that point I felt quite wide awake and now I really don't!

Spending some time with a friend today then cooking Sunday dinner, roast chicken etc. I'm making a quite complex jumper for a friend's baby, I made one in three first size and now she wants second size. It has 3 cable patterns in it with different repeats, requiring me to concentrate rather than carry on mindlessly.the end result is good though.

Hope everyone has a good day

Morning everyone and thanks for the start nmlc.

We too have rain and it’s forecasted for most of the day, no matter as DOH cut the grass yesterday so will do it good. It was very warm yesterday, at one point the thermometer in my car said 18 degrees and I rode Lu with no coat on for the first time this year, lovely.
Not a lot planned for today, usual Sunday morning ritual of bacon butties and catching up with the Archers, have put some braising steak in the SC so that will be our main meal later, other than that will just take it easy and probably read a lot. Although my Parelli horsemanship book arrived yesterday and this idiot had ordered the French version, doh! so that needs to be returned now :(

Hugs to all poorlies and those with worries, have a good day folks x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A very mild but cloudy day for us and no rain! Not that the weather matters one bit as I am going nowhere. 101 jobs to do indoors, including that bl**dy kitchen ceiling.

DD and girls still in Darlington. Final rehearsal day today and then back Thursday for dress rehearsals at the Hippodrome. The performances start Friday.. We are going up (supposed to be going up all being well) by train and will meet them at the hotel we have booked for 3 nights. We are all booked for the Sat evening performance.

I shall be MIA tomorrow morning as DS is coming at 6.00 to take us to Leeds for Mr TA's op. He has to be there for 7.30 so hopefully we will get there in plenty of time. I am worrying about him having a GA the way he has been this last week. I don't suppose they would do it if there was any danger though.

I hope everyone has a good day and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. DUMPLING I hope your assessment goes as well as it can tomorrow and your DD is coping with the new med regime. Take care all xx

    Good morning all,

Am I the only one that's washed the vertical blinds then?:rotfl: Do NOT whatever you do put them in the washing machine. Someone that I know did that and was left with a tattered horrible mess. What you do is run them a bath :) A nice lukewarm bath and instead of bubble bath (assuming your blinds are white) use that vanish type stain remover instead of bubble bath. If your blinds are coloured use washing up liquid - if it's mild enough to wash woolens in (it is by the way) then it won't hurt your blinds. Leave the blinds to soak (I left mine a couple of hours but I was doing something else) then rinse them in cold water. Some of mine lay straight in the bath, the long patio ones had to go in folded over but they were still ok.

Now the important bit.... have a washing up bowl ready and line your windowsill with tea towels or towels because you have to hang them wet. I brought mine downstairs in the bowl to avoid drips everywhere about six at a time. I hung them and weighted them straight away before going back for more. They dry really quickly it's just the hanging them wet that's a little messy.

Nobody's posts are boring by the way. Isn't that the point of old style? We're feeding our families mostly without using processed food, we're doing our best to keep our homes clean and tidy and we're being friendly, neighbourly and helping each other when we can. I like a quiet life. I had enough trauma the year the late MrC died to last me for the rest of my life.

Take care all of you :)

    Morning all.

Dull and cloudy here. I stayed over with DM lazy night so will be heading home later this morning.

There will be something in the fridge to pull out for a meal.

    Happy Sunday everyone.

Cranky we have vertical blinds in this rented house and the bathroom and kitchen ones need washing often - kitchen because they absorb cooking smells and bathroom because it is quite a damp room,b despite keeping the window open a lot. I put them in the bath too, then put a broom handle over the bath and drape them over for half an hour or so to drip before hanging them back up. I just use bio washing powder because that's what I've got in. I know lots of people like blinds but I'm not a fan, I prefer curtains.

I did try putting them on the line but you could see where I'd pegged them so not ideal.

I'm waiting for my old man to get up and get the Sunday Times. I would but I'm not dressed. PJs are not suitable for going to the corner shop. I'm wearing my ridiculous pjs, I bought these from A*da, they didn't have my size so I bought the next size up. It has taken me about 2 years to shrink the trouser part to the point where I'm not at risk of tripping up, now they are just too big, no longer at the stage where people point and laugh.

I thought I might watch TV but someone has plugged something into it so it is not working or at least I can't work it. So I've been reading, I've got two books on the go.

It isn't raining but the weather forecast is a bit dire with added doom and gloom. So I'm leaving the washing for today.

    Morning All

It's a bit drizzy this morning. Yesterday was ok up until about 3pm but I did manage to get the washing just about dried outside and had all the windows open for a few hours so the house got a good airing.

Friends are staying, we were at a wedding reception last night. It was very nice, good to catch up with folk we've not seen for a long time - one guy about 30 years! The band were really good, sort of swing/brat pack but the disco too loud as usual.

I haven't slept very well and have a sore throat and bit of a headache (I was the driver last night so no hangover!), I'll find some paracetemol in a while.

Going to meet DD for brunch, the friends I have staying are like an Aunt and Uncle (only better she says) so she wants to catch up with them before they head home.

Have a good day whatever you're up to. Take care.

    Morning All

Holly glad your visit went well. Hope everyone is ok and hugs if you need some.

Well we did it we have booked a holiday. :j:j it took over an hour and thanks to DH has cost more than I expected but its done.
He has a special birthday later in the year and those who know me will know the past 18 months have been very difficult.

We lost DSmum, and DFIL,DMIL came to live with us and has dementia. She is now in a home ( not an easy decision) but is happy. EXOH (still a good friend) has also been ill.
Also my DDad has been very ill earlier this year.

In fact its partly down to DDad that I agreed to the holiday. He is going away next month for his first foreign holiday in years an when he was ill he said it gave him something too look forward to. He also has a special birthday coming up this year and i have booked a very special treat for him.

So now I really need to save some more pennies and also the difficult one, some weight!!
One good thing is since my days on MSE I have now saved the money so nothing on a CC.
It was a lovey day weather wise yesterday so it brightened the mood, and gave me great encouragement. This morning it's raining so not quite so bright:(

Today i have a lovely beef joint to do for dinner with all the trimmings and will use remainder for sarnies and salad for me for work tomorrow.

Sorry its been a bit of an essay (can you tell I'm a tad excited :rotfl::rotfl:)

    Have a good day all

Holly, it's lovely to read that you are getting out and about and seem positive, I'm sure it shows to your support workers.

newroadahead, enjoy your holiday, where are you going?

I had a very lazy day yesterday watching other people exert themselves - the commonwealth games, both the derby football matches and the masters golf. I also finished the jigsaw I was doing and was left with an extra piece, very confusing.

It's our last full day in Yorkshire so we'll probably do a walk and have Sunday lunch along the way.
I spoke to DD in Japan last night, they are having a good time but it's been very full on so they are tired.
