Any views on this fund please?
Thinking about it for this years ISA allowance since already have US Equity and Developed World Ex UK (UK and Europe covered by active funds) and am probably underweight in Far East being historically conservative about sterling fluctuations.
Mildly surprised to find a (semi?) active fund in the Vanguard options. Only two years performance, that in a bull run, but any alternatives to think about would also be welcomed, active or passive.

It interested me briefly several times and although it doesn't have much track record the managers are credible so it should do OK relative to the region. If you are worried about Sterling then our local currency movements would apply to any of your overseas investments.
I don't see any harm holding the fund as part of a small Vanguard Investor portfolio but I wouldn't be rushing to chuck money into it.

Over its short track record it seems to have similar performance to the Hermes Global Emerging Markets fund that I hold, I suppose for a lot of Active EM funds recently, performance has been driven by pretty much the same things in recent times, heavy exposure to the big Tech names in the region.0

It might fit well with a portfolio of other trackers or if you just want general exposure but I prefer active funds for Emerging Markets or Asia Pacific. The thing about EM is that it covers many countries and companies and much of it is under researched. Unlike western or developed markets there are also issues of corporate governance, transparency and plain old fashioned corruption. A good manager can deliver rewards by finding diamonds in the rough, as they say, and avoiding the lemons. I have had Stewart Investors Global Emerging Market Leaders (nee First State) for about 6 years and I'm happy to hold it, although it's soft closed now so probably not much use to you. You might have a look at their popular Asia Pacific Leaders fund if you don't mind forgoing some regions0

I'm a long term holder of Pacific Assets Trust, been happy with the performance and the management team."If you aren’t willing to own a stock for ten years, don’t even think about owning it for ten minutes” Warren Buffett
