As my old mom used to say its YOU that will get caught not them
I was always wondering why so many of these car raffles are running and no one is batting an eyelid. An example.

Man gets bored and decides to run a competition off his site or social media page. He takes advantage of his huge following and sells raffles through a site around 1500 entries. Each ticket is costing £50 pounds. On say a Porsche Panamera worth £50,000 with some minor modifications. This is actually a real life example from a guy on Youtube. I wont name incase of so called repurcussions and legal comebacks :D:beer:

He manages to sell all tickets and closes the draw. We have no video or independent adjudicator. Its all behind close doors.

Whos to say his mate hasnt won and hes taken the car back and given him a cut and kept £75,000 pounds??? Who can say otherwise. Hes all good until he gets pulled to a small claims court from disgruntled player or someone gets a wiff on the event being called to question

Okay lets say the guy had a live video feed of the draw. How do we know all the names in the pot arent the same 5 people lol

Question is how legal is this? and why are so many social media people running this and no one bats an eyelid. But when you run it you end up being pulled up on it by HMRC, FSA and all these bodies that only seem to care when the average man does a stunt like this..:rotfl:

This is not to be compared to competitions run by bigger corporations or in a bingo hall with scantily clad women drawing names out of hat after an event. This is a guy on instagram, facebook or youtube etc deciding to raffle their car, their fans have come to love after 3 months of owning it!

PS: this social media phenomena started in USA.

Not even remotely. It comes under the Gambling Act 2005, and a licence is firmly needed.

Because the police don't have the resources to spend all day watching YouTube?
    Has anybody reported these?

Somebody who happens to shove some self-made videos on the internet is "the average man", y'know.

The simple solution is to just not buy tickets. They'd soon give up.
