O/S Daily Saturday 7th April 2018

This is an !!!8220;over the garden fence!!!8221; type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It!!!8217;s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we!!!8217;re going to do today or what we!!!8217;ve achieved already. Everyone!!!8217;s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn!!!8217;t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don!!!8217;t post large pictures, or clip art !!!8211; links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don!!!8217;t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still dark but dry underfoot and another dry day is forecast, have washing ready to peg out on the line, I got a line almost dry yesterday too.

DH and myself up enjoying first peaceful cuppas, both boys still in their pits.

Dinner last night was hot quiche, ham, scotch egg, prawns, smoked salmon, side salad, hot new potatoes and pasta salad/coleslaw, ice cream for dessert. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost for tonight but left it in the fridge and it's still frozen so hope it will defrost in time. I should be making either chicken curry or chicken in black bean sauce - we'll see.

Yesterday I did get some things done but my get up and go had got up and gone! Although I did strip and remake our bed, did 3 x loads of washing, did the food shopping and did some jobs on the pc and tackled the ironing.

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. HOLLY nice to hear you are coping well back home. Too right, you do deserve a few treats after all that hospital food.

All the scraping has aggravated my shoulder, which was just starting to ease, and I had a fitful night of aching/pain every time I moved. I swear we must have put that wallpaper on with superglue as it didn't want to shift. I was past even thinking about emulsioning the ceiling by the time it was off so that's now earmarked for tomorrow aft. (If I CBA!)

This morning I must at least do a quick dust and vac round as there is a layer of dust everywhere and bits of wallpaper has been trailed everywhere, both up and down. Then this afternoon I must do a bit of shopping. Not a lot needed as we will be missing most of the week but running out of the essentials - bread, milk, eggs etc. Mr TA hasn't been out of the door for a week but says he wants to come with me just to get out.

The kitchen company rang yesterday and scuppered my plans a bit. They want to come next Sunday to rip the old kitchen out and then the electrician has a full day Monday to do all the electrics. We won't be here next Sunday till late afternoon as we are in Darlington till late afternoon! So DS is going to come and let them in and lock up after them. So now, instead of moving the last things out when we get back home again, it will have to be done before we go. I shall now have to get the fridge, micro, kettle, cups etc set up in the lounge Wednesday afternoon in readiness for the no-kitchen week! I'm getting too old for all this upheaval!

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for those wanting/needing them. Take care all. Time now to put the kettle back on. It's looking very promising outside so another nice day in store for us I think xx

ps just to wish JACKIE a lovely holiday on her beloved IOW. We have a photo in a frame of Mr TA and the 2 youngest DGDs taken on Shanklin beach 2 years ago. I love that photo and often wish myself back there! Envious, moi, you bet!

Morning all, thank you for starting the thread nmlc.

Holly, your plans for the day sound good, a mixture of getting out and about and relaxing and I think you do deserve some treats now.

TA I hope you get time to sit down!

I did a bit of tidying after I'd made and served dinner but I do need to do a bathroom blitz. I washed the shower curtain and it is fine now, don't really want to replace it as it is a decent quality one with a weighted bottom (just like me) but I will probably buy a cheap one when we leave to replace the vile plastic one that was provided

I've got towels whizzing round in the washing machine but it looks a bit dismal outside so they may have to go on the rack indoors.

My life is sooooooo full of excitement, you must all be bored reading my drivel.

    JackieO have a great time.

    Morning All

Looks ok outside but then so did yesterday until the heavens opened at around 3pm and we all got soaked on our walk.

I was worn out by the time my little visitor left, his dad picked him up just before 7 so it had been a long day for him (and me!). Anyway, we had fun and there wasn't too much mess!

Just the bathrooms to clean today, I have visitors arriving this afternoon from Yorkshire, we are going to an evening wedding reception tonight. We'll meet DD tomorrow for an early lunch then they will go home. It's a lot of travelling just for the evening for them.

    Have a good holiday JackieO!

Hope you all have a good Saturday and the weather is kind to you. Take care. XX

    Good morning everyone.

Seems bright outside, hope it stays that way.

DM didn’t do any of her plans yesterday, a recurring theme, but I got out and went to Costc o. Only bought antihistamines and then fuel at the new shiny station. I got told off for going the wrong way into it and then had a nice chat with the bloke helping people to use the pumps.

The visit from a friend was really good. He inherited a lovely little mews cottage from an even older friend who was greatly beloved. Now, two years later, he’s selling it and setting himself free (I mean that in a good way). He listed the property on Monday and it sold on Wednesday for a substantial amount over the OO price. We’re delighted for him.

Anyway, this weeks lemon drizzle was delicious this time. Brownies still a bit ‘meh’.

Right, moving time. I hope everyone is doing well or getting better.

    Happy Saturday to all.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's a bit wet out this morning but I am thankful to be in the warm and dry. Steve is currently making a cooked breakfast so the house smells all lovely and bacony :D.

I didn't sleep last night as I had a letter yesterday afternoon telling me my PIP assessment is going to be on Monday. Talk about short notice . Thankfully after a panicky phone call to my lovely cmht lady she has rearranged some appointments and can come with me. I am absolutely dreading it but it needs to be done although I weep whenever I think about it.

The grandchildren have left for home now after a thorough spoiling :). They brighten my life so much and it is always a pleasure to see them although they wear me out with their boundless energy :rotfl:.I am so thankful they just live round the corner and we get to see them lots.

Phoebe is starting her new medication for anxiety and OCD today so I will be keeping a close eye on her. I hope it makes a difference as she struggles so much with all her compulsions and anxieties.

Hope JackieO has a lovely holiday, even better if there is some sunshine for you x
Lovely to see you posting Holly, enjoy being at home again and take it easy x

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning everyone,

Dry and reasonably bright here today, we are due a little rain but nothing bad, April showers and all that.
Hope to get out in the garden for a while this morning, also need to pop out to do a small top up shop as we are going back on to the BSD for a while, we have both put on a few pounds over the winter and it needs shifting!
This afternoon will be spent with Lu, I have decided to start her on some Parelli Natural Horsemanship as she is a smart but sensitive little cookie. I had the book years ago so know a few basics but for the life of me can’t find it in the house so have ordered a SH copy off t’internet. Years ago a friend of mine was a great exponent of the technique and used to play football with her horse in the field, the horse loved it and had learnt to kick the ball back to her :)
Right, time for breakfast and get on with the day.

Holly some luxurious meals and fresh air sound a grand idea, it’s all about self nourishment and cosseting.
Enjoy your hols JACKIE and family.

Have a good day folks x

Damp and drizzly here and set in for the day we have a huge pile of washing between us so the wm will be doing its thing all day, it will have to go on the airer in front of the fire and in the td today.

OH has gone to the boot sale and dd and boyf are just leaving to have a look at a house, they built 6 new houses in the village a while ago and none have sold yet, they have reduced the price and they are now more affordable so they are going to have a look round.

My day will be filled with housework, shopping, walking, napping and maybe a film, tonight we will have a nice dinner and then carry on watching Vikings which is brilliant.

Not sure what to have for dinner tonight I m waiting for inspiration to strike.

Lainey your posts are not boring at all, mine are all full of cleaning shopping and eating and are very dull !

    Have good days all xx

    Morning all,

That sounded a lovely tea Nmlc ,just up my street.
    Happy hols JackieO
Holly,a bit of pampering sounds just the ticket and I'm glad you are feeling more relaxed xx
DS has taken the DGC to DGS football so I probably have about half an hour before the mayhem begins again.Apparently DGS is here all day so will have to fit tidying around them as we have friends coming over tonight. The new rug for our newly decorated front room arrived yesterday & its just right but there are a few bits of cream on it and I'm not sure how long they'll stay cream with Ly1a! I also got some bits of blue Mdina glass off fleabay including 2 lovely seahorses for the mantlepiece.DH's later sister used to collect it and I have a bowl of hers already and the colours are perfect.I sympathise with the decorating shoulder though TA,I ached like mad too!
Good luck on Monday Dumpling xx
Lainey have a lovely day with your lovely Lulu. Thanks Nels, guess what I was humming all night :D
Have a great day everyone :)

  • Morning, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Keep it up Holly, short bursts is the way to go.

Well after OH collapsed yesterday he spent the rest of the morning and part of the afternoon, in bed, he seems ok this morning. I have a feeling he had worked himself up about the op.

I really need to get out in the garden, but just do not have the energy, I will try and do some of the sorting out in the nursery bed.

    Cauli gratin for supper.
