Car Insurance Claims

A couple of years ago I made a couple of claims against third parties for accidents that were not my fault. In both cases these claims were settled with no fault being on my part.
I'm looking to get car insurance and when I list these two claims stating that there was no fault on my part and the third party was claimed against my premium increases by about £100.
Surely this isn't correct, is it?

Don't know whether it's right or wrong, sorry.
Have you considered some advanced driver training so you can anticipate and avoid accidents?
I consider it money well spent as it helps avoid a lot of hassle and cost.
The institue of advanced motorists would be a good place to start.0 -

I would imagine an insurer would see you as a high risk as you seem to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time twice. That makes you high risk, whether the claims were your fault or not.
I'd advise you to call co's, call as many 0800 no's as your patience allows.
I do this every year and even though I made a 100% fault claim last year (no-one else involved) our premiums were less after the accident than they were before.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
With the greatest respect the accidents were nothing to do with my driving skills.
One was my car being hit whilst parked outside my house (correctly) and the other my car was reversed into whilst also parked (correctly).
I just think that with unavoidable claims it seems unfair to penalise.0 -
although yes, the claims were unavoidable and not to do with your driving skills, statistically you are a higher risk than someone who has never made a claim.

I understand, thanks.
Although if anybody else is interested even after declaring my claims on two websites, Privilege and Tesco, I have saved nearly £200 even after using the various different websites, Confused.com, etc.
The claims did not affect the premium.0 -
I agree that the accidents were not your fault at all.
The problem is that many insurers might consider you as someone who
1) lives or parks somewhere "risky" i.e. public places without CCTV
2) is likely to claim rather than pay for minor damage themselves or not get it fixed
I only park on my drive or in a private car park with CCTV at work so clearly I'm less likely to be involved in this kind of thing than you are.
I also have an old banger and wouldn't bother claiming.
Nothing to do with parking skills but I think you are more likely to claim than other people (like me) hence the price goes up with some insurer.
Glad you found a good quote though.0
