Cheaper identical flat? Rights with my landlord?

Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post, sorry if it's not.

In currently renting a 2nd floor flat, all of the flats in our building are identical. The ground floor flat in the building has come up for rent at £120 cheaper than we are currently paying for ours.

Do I have any rights over this to ask my current landlord to reduce our rent?

    are you within a fixed term or could you give notice and move to the ground floor flat?

    Theyre not identical.

    You can climb in and out of the window much easier on the ground floor flats.

    The ground floor flat will have at the very least one more person walking past their property (probably more).

    +1 for them not being identical.
    I've always avoided ground floor flats and people I know that have been in them have regretted it.
    At the very least you get people walking past and having a good look inside.

    Does your landlord own all the flats? The layout/size may be identical, but are the amenities identical? Is it in the same condition? If the landlord owns them all, why not ask to transfer your tenancy? Although I'd bear in mind a ground flat may have added drawbacks - more passing traffic in communal areas, noise from above, easier to break into etc.

    Theres no "right" to ask for cheaper rent but theres no law against it either. Really, even supermarkets could charge different customers different prices for the same goods if they wanted to - providing it wasn't based on protected characteristics under discrimination laws of course.

    It's not directly on the pavement so not too easy for nosey people.

    We're in a rolling.contract, so could easily give notice and move if needed.

    Now just debating what to do as a lot of interest due to the price and area.

  • We currently deal with the excessive noise from the flat below us, not sure they could be worse ha
