I love piccalilli!
A couple of ideas for those not quite so fond of the delicacy...
Pop some into a in a food processor, add some chick peas (the tinned sort, well drained, and a wee slug of olive oil...whiz up, adding a little flour if the mix is too wet...form into small balls and bake for a falafelly type of snack.
Again in a processor, whizz up some piccalilli, add some finally chopped ham and use it as a filling for toasted sarnies.
Or...add a couple of heaped spponsful to homemade veg soup.....just be careful with adding extra seasoning0 -
Its nothing short of a moral dilema. If she made it and you pretend you like it, she is going to give you more. If you say you don't like it she might be offended. Does yr OH's mum not know if he likes piccalilli or did she ask if he does? Does she take offense easily ? I love piccalilli, and condiments but I frequently get toiletries from MIL for xmas/birthday which I always give away because I want to choosewhat I use and not be imposed upon by someone else's choices.Still virtually alcohol free since 4/1/15. (10 Xmas/ New Year/Birthday drinks)

Or add it to soup before you liquidise it. (I often add a bit of vinegar to homemade soups to add a bit of 'bite").0 -
Thanks all!
Caroc - I'm not sure it's too much of a moral dilemma, if we say no more, that'll be fine. It's not a regular thing that she makes (I'm not sure why she made it, perhaps a surfeit of allotment veg that had been given to her), so we'll be okay in future.
DH thought he liked it, so accepted the offered jar. Having just spent ages trying to get everything we already owned into fewer cupboards in our new kitchen, I was less than impressed to have to find house room for a large jar of something I don't like! :roftl:Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I'm not keen on piccalilli either, but anything mustardy would probably go well in a curry.0
