I'm losing Channels

Hi All

I'm not very technical but basically when I moved house 2 years ago the previous owner had left their sky dish etc, so i plugged my old sky box into it & started to receive the free channels as I have no sky subscription anymore. There has been no problem for the last 2 years I have received all free channels BBC 3, BB4, Sky 3 & the rest. However since saturday I've lost BBC2, 3 & 4 Sky 3 Channel 5 & others the message i get on these channels "is there is no satellite signal is been received" other channels ITV2 etc are still working.

I've just read another thread saying you need to buy a card from Sky to get the channels to work for free has this only just changed? as i've been receiving them for 2 years in this way - or do you think my box is packing in? I've switched it on & off & unplugged it in the hope of it coming back on but no luck:( Can anybody help?

The same has happened to me today, I have lost channel 4, channel 5, bbc 3 and a few others, I am not subscribing to Sky at the moment and have no intention of giving Murdoch my money, why can't I get these channels anymore I didn't think Sky had anything to do with the above channels, or maybe I am wrong? I have tried re-loading the box, and I even phoned Sky, they weren't exactly helpful as I don't subscribed, and the fact that my box isn't registered to the card, the card is mine but I bought the box off E-Bay three years ago as my old Pace one gave up, and we couldn't at the time get freeview, the tv is needing replacing soon, but I wanted to wait until after Xmas and would like the opportunity to watch some Carp on Channel 4, Channel 5 and BBC 3 over the festive period, any ideas?

look at your dish outside it could just need a brush...this happened to me last weekend and I pay all I could get was sky news....:mad:so I turned it off left it for 5 minutes turned it back on nothing...I went outside and there was a leaf on the LNB stopping the signal so try brushing your dish just to see if it could be getting blocked by dirt or leaves...if that doesn't work try house keeping it could be that your HD in the sky box is full.

then it goes off
wait 2-3 mintues and turn it back on this should work

I have sky+ but I know you can do this with a sky box as well
you should have all your channels back now if not see if sky can turn them back on they are free after all...hth's cw:Dalthough it is strange that it happened to me as well and I pay £38 amonth...:D

if that doesn't work you are going to have to talk to sky and ask them why they have turned them off
but please check your dish first it maybe that it's just abit of dirt or a leaf blocking the signal...hope this help's cw:D
