Broken Miele Washing Machine

So we’ve just had the Miele engineer out to our four year old Miele Washing Machine as it had decided to not spin and the engineer has advised us that it’s the motor that needs to be replaced.

He’s saying that despite us having a ten year promotional warranty on the machine that it has done over 11,000 hours and is only covered for 10,000 hours.

We are a family of six and it’s on twice a day but we paid over £1,500 for this machine and they now want £600 for a new motor. Has anyone heard of the warranty being limited to hours and is 10,000 hours a standard amount of time for a washer to last?


Does anyone know of any other brands that are more reliable these days?

4. Exclusions

Miele will not bear costs for repairs where appliance breakdown is due to the following: Non-compliance with safety regulations and warnings given in the operating instructions.
- Faults caused by the user through operating errors or lack of care and maintenance.
- Non-domestic or commercial use.
- Use that extends 10,000 operating hours for appliances or 1,000 hours for vacuum cleaners

It's worth checking your paperwork that it was mentioned when you signed up for the 10 year warranty. They do sometimes try to cheat

11000 hours in a 4 year old washing machine is 7.5 hours a day, every day!!!

Not really surprised really - their guarantee of 10 years/10000 hours is already pretty good.
