European car insurance for a year

Can anyone tell me who provides car insurance for travelling in Europe for 6 months to a year. We have been told that 90 days is the maximum for most insurers and a person at the insurance brokers association couldn't tell me of anyone. He suggested importing the car to Europe and insuring it there! I cannot believe that no one is travelling for longer than 6 months in a car or camper van these days.

People are probably travelling for more than 6 months. But insurers probably don't want to ball ache of having to deal with claims between countries. Makes recovery and claim costs more difficult.

Doesn't mean that no-one out there will do it though!

You'll have to find some specialists brokers perhaps.
