I only bought the Miele because it came with the 10 years parts & labour warranty. I wouldn't pay that money without that & a quick look suggest the 10 year warranty isn't available at the moment.

Yea I couldn't find a Miele with that long of a warranty, sadly

The highest I found was a 5 year one.

They cost about £1500, but, they also come with an 11 year parts and labour warranty.
Most machines comes with, at most, a 5 year warranty, so it might be a good deal in the long run, as we DO have lodgers in our home, so it will take a beating (as our current one has)

Be really careful about the detail of any warranty and what is excluded. As you have lodgers you never know what they might do to the machine (wne you aren't around ;)) and if they manage to break it in a way that isn't covered under the warranty then you've spent a very large amount of money on a failed machine which is no more use than a failed cheap one.

I also hate the disposable culture, but like casper_g, if that is the way manufacturers are going then as consumers we will end up having to follow.

Miele are doing a 10 year parts/labour promotion right now, on their expensive models, but, still not a bad deal.
