Local news has just featured a story about residents of a housing association development who are now subject to fuel poverty.

This is thanks to installation of a "highly innovative" electric heating system which is needless to say costing them a fortune.

All I can say is whoever is employed at the Housing Association specifying these heaters obviously didn't have any knowledge of heating systems and must have believed the hype, or they took a huge commission as a result of the order.

One look at the Logicor Clear Heating System demonstrates all the hallmarks of snake oil electric heating.

"patented technology"
"Super efficient"
"Phased energy function"

See for yourself and see what they promise.

What they actually sell is a slightly different looking 820w or 430w heater with a thermostat!

No wonder residents are chewing electricity.

Yep - just like Ronite or Fischer

Stay away....someone just posted about their £15,000 fischer installation not living up to it's claim....along with a mess of an installation....

I assume this is the housing association in question.

    https://www.yorkshirebusinessdaily.co.uk/2015/08/10/revolutionary-new-heating-technology-leeds-yorkshire-housing/

    The mind boggles......

These are just far infra-red heaters, which heat objects rather than air. The issue with these is, as soon as they turn off, the house will feel cold. They can only heat a small localised area as far as I am aware.

My gran uses a small portable one that cost £15 when she wants direct heat when sat in her chair.

According to this, it cost £750,000 for 138 properties which is about £5450 per home.

    They even state

"Whilst installing like-for-like new storage heaters would have been around £300,000 cheaper, LYHA took the bold decision to invest in the Clear Heater System to improve affordability and quality of lives for its customers."

    Where is that facepalm gif.......

I think that press release says it all.

    A complete load of codswallop.

The news report did also state the installers have now gone bust!
  • Did you see the look north report.
