Repainting glossed built in wardrobes

Hi
The house I've recently moved into has Victorian style built in wardrobes....I'd like to keep these but they're currently painted in gloss paint! I'd like to paint them in a matt paint...do I need to remove the gloss paint completely or can it be painted over? Any hints and tips welcome!

Rub them down well with some paper and have a crack at painting atop.0

Have a look at Zinsser Bin, they have all sorts of primers, stain coverings etc and I am sure you will find something suitable.0

I've used Owatrol Easy Surface Preparation in the past. Easy to use - wipe on, leave for a bit and wipe excess off. Worked well on melamine cupboards, overpainted some with emulsion and others with satinwood.0
