Extremely slow solicitors

Welcome to the club. We put an offer in mid December and are stuck waiting for the other side to answer the final 4 pre-contract enquiries. They've been sitting on them for a month.
I am in a similar situation, but not as long. I have provided my solicitor and the EA with everything they have requested, and the seller (executor of an estate) is a motivated seller (not least because I am a cash buyer, no chain, etc.).
"My" solicitor is saying she is awaiting answers from "their" solicitors to some of the queries. The EA has also contacted "their" solicitors to try to shift them.
I get confused as to who is responsible for what in this situation, or how to determine who is really holding things up. I mean, is it not possible that the vendor is holding things up if the solicitor query requires them to do something (e.g., provide warranties associated with the conservatory, electrical work, or whatever)?(Nearly) dunroving0
