Hi —
I'm getting married this June in Germany and need to have my Birth Certificate and Certificate of Non-Impediment plus there attached Apostille Stamps translated into German by and official / legal translator.
Plenty of translation services around but how do i know that my translated documents will be 'official' and accepted by the registrar?
Is there anywhere specific i need to go for the translation?
Thanks

I would go to a Notary Public that does legal translation.
No affiliation but I have used this firm: http://www.cheeswrights.co.uk/services.php#Translations0 -
Check with your translator whether they are used to dealing with legal documents. I've only dealt with translations into English, but it is common for the translator to include a Statement of Truth which is a statement confirming that the translation is full and accurate and which gives their name and professional standing. Most will have a stamp they can add.
If the German authority requires a formal Apostille or 'notarised' translation then you may be best using a Notary.
However, if you use a larger organisation they may well be familiar with the standard requirements for German official documents. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
Ask the German embassy for a list of translators they work with. I know other embassies provide such a list.0
