Hi there
Seem a long standing member however not really posted. I have been a lurker but things are getting difficult and I need to sort them out. Having gone to bed at 2 and waking up at 5.. the mind won’t settle down and I have had enough!
My partnership isn’t in a very healthy place and my finances are all over the place! To be quiet frank I’m sick of it all. So I’m going to do this step by step because I don’t feel strong enough to do it all in one go. I am all over the place if I am honest and I shut down.
My first issue is I have realised that I have been paying a phone bill that should have been cancelled over 2 years ago. The direct debit is still being taken out. Is there anything I can do to reclaim the money back as the SIM card has not been used since it was meant to be cancelled?
Thank yous in advance.

Call the mobile company and explain the circumstances. Hopefully they'll give you some goodwill. Do you have proof that you cancelled it?

Normally, if you are out of contract, and they can see the sim has not been used, but you have still been religiously paying, they will refund you something as a gesture of goodwill.
Best to speak to someone, and be nice when you call, say you realise its your fault but on this occasion blah blah blah.

Not quite clear on this whether you mean "should have been cancelled" in terms of "you meant to, but didn't" or whether it's "should have been cancelled as per a request to the phone company, but they didn't follow through"? either way though get it dealt with promptly now while it's come to your attention - if you can get anything back on it then great, if not then chalk it up to experience and move on to the next thing.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Didn't you notice the direct debit going out ? When I finish a contract i always cancel the direct debit to make sure no further payment is made.0

Have you written everything down? Just offloading into paper and seeing what is what can help you. Just feeling you have debt and not knowing where to start is stressful but once you have a plan it already feels better. List all your debts then do a income and expenditure and see what's leftover. Then you can see where to make savings and which debts to pay and how. Once you are in control you will move forward.
I agree with contacting the phone company. be nice and ask politely and see. Even if they tell you they can't help at least you have now cancelled the direct debit so that's increased your available money. He
There is no money problem that can't be sorted one way or another.0
