Land Registry and writing a will

There's no doubt at all they are wrong for all the reasons stated above.
Book an appointment / get on with drafting a new will, In the meantime destroy the original and for the avoidance of doubt have hubby sign a very short statement saying he has destroyed it (and get it witnessed if you want to for belt and braces should SIL contest will)
Might sound OTT but I know of someone who moved jobs, old job ended on a Friday new one started on the Monday. Was killed in a RTA at the weekend. No life assurance policy for wife and child as it had ended on the Friday afternoon and new one hadn't started.
You might also want to reconsider which solicitor to use given their clear incompetence with sucha simple matter. My guess would be they know it's wrong but are looking to cover themselves and that's come ahead of your convenience.0 -
I had an email from the firm and amongst other things they said..If Mr Pimento!!!8217;s new Will is fully prepared and executed before the transfer has been completed by the Land Registry it will be ineffective as it is not possible to bequeath an asset to a beneficiary if the Testator does not actually own the asset. Please note that it would be possible for the Will to be drafted and held on file to be signed and witnessed once the Land Registry complete the transfer request submitted.
They have agreed to draft the new will so that it's ready to go when the LR do their stuff."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0
