in Credit cards
Hi there.
As the title says, I am trying to find out what credit cards I had in the past and whether I had PPI or not. I can remember some cards I used but as I used to switch from one card to another quite frequently I used many different ones but I cannot remember them all!
I have looked on my credit report, Clear Score but it only shows the latest cards, but I am after the ones that I had many years ago. Is there a way to get that information?

No. Only from your own records if you have any or memory.
If you cant remember, how can youremember and /or prove they were miss soldmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
No, maybe I cannot prove that I was mis-sold PPI but on the other hand, how can the banks prove that it was explained to me properly when they sold it? It's word against word.0

How did you settle the bills? You should have some or all of:
- credit card statements
- bank transfer records on bank statements
- direct debit records
- cheque stubs if applicable
If you don't have any of this information then you'll be struggling to identify which cards you had, never mind which (if any) actually had PPI associated with them....0 -
Well that is the problem as I do not have any paperwork or correspondence associated with my old credit cards as I normally shred everything after a few years, and although I do keep a lot of my paperwork, this dates back to quite a few years ago.
I assume then that there is no way of finding out which credit cards I had for certain, only the ones that I remember having, or at least think I remember having. I would have thought that somewhere there is a credit report linked to my name and address which credit cards I have used during my lifetime? Surely it cannot be that difficult to get that information? Obviously it is then...0 -

They didn't have to - in most cases it was ticking a box - in the early years it was opt out by ticking which was naughty but then changed to opt in.
If you ticked the box to say you wanted it - you got it.0 -
Not that I'm advocating using one of these agencies that are always advertising that "they will check" and you then pay them if they find anything, does it mean they don't have any way of checking either? Or would this be a case of it might be worth letting them check and if they do find anything at least you get something. I did my PPI on my own just for the record but did not have much to check ;-)Paddle No 21 :wave:0

All a claims company does is sell you a stamp.
You can usually buy them for less at a Post Office or similar retail outlet.0 -
What about your online bank statements, might show payments to the card company.0
