As I pay an annual fee I suspect that the old cards will be cancelled on the renewal date.
I fly Virgin frequently to the USA and have had many free Upper Class trips with them. I'm not convinced that the new cards are in fact a better deal. I hope I'm proved wrong. By the way had a B.A. card before and found it useless to book seats with points.
The new cards are a significant improvement on the MBNA Visa cards and are by some measures the most generous non-Amex products on the market.0 -
Regardless of what Virgin tell you, all non-Amex issued Amex cards in the EU are being discontinued, it is a case of when not if.

I would hardly say a significant improvement overall though.
Currently with the MBNA black card, I get two premium economy upgrade vouchers when spending £10,000 as opposed to 1 voucher as well as earning 2 points per £1 as opposed to 1.5 miles on the new card. Both cards have pretty worthless 2for1 vouchers (unless gold on the newer cards)0
