I'm in a new build and they have the wooden strip above the windows like my old flat.
Trying to screw the nails into the wood for the curtain fixture but it isn't happening. I don't remember it being this hard before. Is it because I have a rubbish simple drill?
What tool would you recommend? I don't have much use for a drill so don't want to spend too much but then again it may come in handy when building furniture as we haven't got any of that stuff yet and normally just use a simple old screwdriver.

I hope thats a typo and you meant screws.Trying to screw the nails into the wood
As long as you have a good sharp drill bit and the drill is turning in the correct direction, you shouldn't have a problem drilling pilot holes in wood then use a screwdriver to put the screws into the wood.0 -
have you drilled a pilot hole for the screw first using a slightly smaller drill bit?0

If you don't have a drill, you could try making a small hole with a bradawl and then screw in a small screw to get the hole started, then remove that and screw in the screw you want to use.0

Sounds as though your drill driver is in reverse.............0
