You send complaint letters to the firm that sold you the MPPI, this is not necessarily the lender, much MPPI was sold by brokers independent of the lender. Ensure you get the right details as to how you bought it.
If your MPPI was with insurance firm X, lender was bank Y and mortgage arranged through broker Z, you complain to Z, not X or Y. If the arrangement was done through an agent of X, you complain to X. If the arrangement was sold in branch of C&G through a C&G staff member you complain to them.
Remember also it's a complaint not a claim, this is important as you are saying there was wrong doing such as the insurance not being suitable for you or wasn't sold properly, there is no entitlement to a refund unless you can show it was miss-soldSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Hi
I also had a mortgage with C&G however have no paper work relating to any PPI. Is there a way of finding out if I had PPI as with other lenders? I also had a mortgage with Abbey National?
If a mortgage was arranged by a broker or conveyancing company do I go to them to enquire if I was sold PPI?
Sorry lots of ?? new to this PPI game!

Broker sold uphold rate on MPPI is only around 5% (i.e. 95% rejected). Plus, they wont qualify under plevin (as broker sold cases dont exceed the tipping point.
Plus, brokers were only regulated from january 2005. So, they dont need to consider complaints made about sales from before that date.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
