Commuting from Alton, Hampshire

Options
Does anyone have any experience of commuting from Alton, Hampshire by rail to Aldershot/Woking and surrounding towns? Or commuting up the A31 to Aldershot/Farnborough etc

I am considering moving to Alton, slight concern that it's a way from other towns for work.

Any experiences and insights appreciated

presumably you already have a job in Aldershot/Farnborough since, in relative terms, the commute distance you mention is trivial and therefore the work prospects of one v the other largely irrelevant for this part of the south east.

yes the A31 will be busy as many use it as an alternative to the M3 for commuting into London from a lot further away than Alton. I had a colleague who used it every day for New Forest to Guildford for just that reason, to avoid the M3

Could you take the train? There's a half hourly service from Alton to Aldershot and the travel time is only 20 minutes. There is an Alton rail users group at
