When I turn my screen on, the message check cable displays, whether a cable is plugged in or not.
none of the monitor buttons such as on screen menu do anything.
Time for a new monitor?
thank you

Sure its not the computer that's stopped working? Pointless buying a new monitor if the computer's packed up. Beg or borrow another known-working monitor first and if that doesn't work on your computer, you know where the problem is.0

I believe these models have multiple inputs on the monitor.
On some there is a button on the front that if you press switches between inputs such as VGA and DVI inputs. If you have accidentally pressed this button when turning on or cleaning the monitor etc it might be stuck on the wrong input.
I get this message if I have my computer plugged into the DVI input and then select the VGA input.
Try pressing the appropriate button on the monitor to change inputs.0
