Mispayment made to old account

I had a current account and credit card with Nationwide which i unfortunately defaulted on due to being made redundant. A while later, I was employed again and the account had been passed on to Moorcroft for repayment. I contacted them and arranged a repayment plan. The Current account o/d was £200 and the Credit card was £1700. I have been regularly making repayments to Moorcroft. Today, accidentally i transferred my entire savings, £1500, from my new bank account (lloyds) to my old Nationwide one.

I contacted Moorcroft who said i would need to contact Nationwide. I assumed the current account had been closed, but after a 40 min wait on the phone to Nationwide, I was told that they could see my payment but they couldn;t do anything and i would need to call and speak to collections tomorrow.

I'm at a loss and terrified that i will lose the money i have worked hard to save for a rainy day. Anyone ever been in a similar situation? Any experience of what happens next ?

Thanks in advance

So, you owe NW £1,900 but had savings of £1,500. Seems to me that you have done the right thing.

Thanks for entirely ignoring my post and deciding to make a post that doesn't help me whatsoever.

What would you do in Nationwide's position?

They've finally got the money they've been owed for a while and without waiting for it in dribs and drabs. Whilst you've had it all along and withheld that fact from them.

If you accidentally did the transfer then maybe a call to Lloyds to see if they can recall the transfer back to your account?

Unlikely in the world of Faster Payments.

    It will depend IMO
If Nationwide have formally closed the account and passed the debt to Moorfields - and you are paying the debt back as per any arrangement then IMO Nationwide will have to refund you the money.
If the account is still classed as under Nationwide 's control then I would not refund.
