A little off topic, but....are the brands like Sentinel and Fernox CH cleaner and inhibitor any better than say No Non-sense stuff? Reason I ask is that I am going to flush out our open system CH at the weekend and put some new inhibitor in when the cleaning has had a chance to work through.

No non-sense stuff is ~£8 each from screwfix, sentinel is ~£12-14 each. Is it worth the extra?? bearing in mind we may be thinking of getting a new boiler when we redo our kitchen in say 1-2 years time..

Hi...most boiler manufacturers specify either Fernox or Sentinel for their boilers as part of the installation and commissioning procedure....my OH uses either as a matter of preference.

  • David, message 12. Warmfront seemed quite efficient ,the the heating firm where more slovenly. I had to pay an excess for the rad. valves and their office didn't inform warmfront when I paid it. I sat like a lemon for several weeks before phoning to see what was going on and getting it sorted. No one apologised and I have to say that they seem to treat clients in a way they wouldn't treat a private customer. I'd suggest anyone applying should not be afraid to pester warmfront if they have probs. The ladies on the phone are exceptionally helpful.
