Help me find a good washing machine?

Can you guys help with finding a decent washing machine under £300?
I thought I was looking for a 1600rpm one (currently have 1400) as I don't have a tumble dryer and thought this would get my clothes a bit dryer meaning clothes hanging around the house for less time. However what I have noticed from reviews on these machines is you can only use the 1600 spin on certain cycles, and on one review someone said it only could do 1200 on the usual cycles....which would make it worse than the one I have now.
So is it worth getting a 1600 does it make much difference with how dry the clothes come out?
The other feature I would like is the KG mode that weighs the clothes and alters the water consumption etc.
I would also need at least a 7kg drum.
My current machine does a standard 40 degree wash in 1hr 30, so don't want one that takes much longer than this. though again they all seem to have long cycles?
A self cleaning mode would be good but not essential.
I also don't want to pay a fortune in delivery and set up costs.
Can anyone recommend anything? Its doing my head in looking at them all!:rotfl:

Don't believe everything you read about clever fast spins or metering the water to the load. The fast spin only lasts a few seconds, the water metering is rubbish, they all use very little water now. You want an efficient spin, they're rated ABC etc. All machines will have really long programmes to get the A++++++++ wash rating but they all have shorter washes too. They won't have fast spins on the synthetics programmes because it can damage the clothes.
That hasn't really helped you decide has it?Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -
Thanks Essex, so basically its probably not worth getting a 1600?
As long at it does the 1600 spin on the normal cottons wash, which is what I use most then that will be fine.
Still looking...0 -
Spin speed does not really give an indicator of how good a machine is
even the rating is not that good
A is <45%
B is 45 to <54
a very good B could be close to a not so good A
Check the proper measure of spin efficiency residual moisture in %
should be on the EU product fiche sheets.
eg hover HL 1472D3 available around £240.
A rated spin efficiency is 42% and this is a 1400 machine.

Machines should also have options to override the spin on the wash or have a spin only program that allows full speed.0
