good afternoon
I have recently come in to some money and since in a few years time i would like to be able to be a property owner again , My credit rating is currently shot !
I have straightened up everything with the exception of an old credit card which im ashamed to admit , I lost track off having moved several times and naively hoped would lose track of me !
The credit card shows on my credit file however i believe it has passed hands several times - I have had one letter about it in the past which I didnt keep so i have no details of the account number
Noddle are currently showing the debt as outstanding to Intrum Uk Finance Limited , Do I contact them
Ideally I would hope that I may be able to obtain a reduction of the debt to settle in full but i have absolutely no idea how i can contact them and obtain details
the other option is to wait for them to contact me , or hope that they dont and it will drop off of my credit file in January 2020
The risk there is that there could be a CCJ issued and I would much rather settle the debt if I can
Any assistance appreciated

Hi,
Just make sure your address details are up to date with all 3 CRA`s, that should do the trick.
It will ring alarm bells somewhere, if they are interested in pursuing the debt, they will contact you, or you could write to them providing your past and current details, debt collectors/purchasers are usually open to a deal of some kind.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. i have spoken to them and they have offered me a settlement amount of 50% of the amount
Potentially I am able to pay this within the next few weeks , I know I should be accountable and pay what i owe.
if however i don't , are they able to pursue me for a CCJ for the full amount at a later date0 -
You have to ask them for written confirmation that this will mark the account as partially settled with a balance of zero. If you make the payment after the written confirmation they will not chase for the remainder you need to keep the confirmation for six years. Do not make any payments to them to settle the account until you have written confirmation it will be a zero balance remaining£2 Savers Club for 2022 #120

Hi there
There's some good advice from StokieBecks above. Never pay a full & final settlement before you have written confirmation what the agreement is. You need to know they will not pursue you in future or sell the debt on. Keep this letter for your records, and then if you are ever contacted in the future you will have proof the debt has been settled as agreed.

This is an excellent template letter from National Debtline.
Before you part with a penny, you should get all points covered in this letter agreed before hand with the creditor, IN WRITING !!!
If you do not, they can, or there agents can, and most likely will, pursue you again for the balance :

Thanks for the advice
i havent given them a current address however i have had this email correpsondance from them regarding the debt.
It looks like they are confirming what you advise to ask for
Thank you for contacting Intrum.
We confirm that the amount of £****.** will be acceptable as 'partial settlement' on your account, provided that payment is received by 30/04/18.
If you clear your account by way of partial settlement any default that may be registered in relation to this account would be updated to 'partially satisfied', the outstanding balance will show as zero on your credit file and you will not be pursued for any remainder of the balance by Intrum or any other third party. Please be aware partially satisfied may be considered less favourable than fully satisfied by future providers of credit.
We send the information to the Credit Reference Agencies between the 1st and 5th of the following month and are reliant on them to update the credit file which can take up to 10 working days from us sending the information.
Immediate payment can be made by using one of the methods shown below:
Over the telephone - Our automated payment line is open 24/7. To make a payment please call 0203 131 2356 with your Intrum Reference Number
You can access and manage your account with us 24 hours a day by clicking here.
By accessing your account online you will be able to check your balance, complete and submit your Financial Statement, set up arrangements and make payments.
In the event an agreed payment is missed the full balance will become payable. If you are unable to make an agreed payment please contact us prior to your agreed repayment date so that we can agree a solution. Doing so will assist us in preventing further collection activity action which could include letters, telephone calls, SMS and emails.
