  • Thanks for your reply OnlyAlan, I certainly didn't take it as a flippant reply.
I think I have fallen into the trap of things not going well for me and thinking I'm the only one with problems, as you point out it could be a lot worse for me, I have a roof over my head and although at the moment this issue seems to being going on forever - it is in fact short term and maybe I just need to adjust my habits in the short term and just get on with it.

Its certainly been something that has put it in perspective.

deannatrois - can I ask what head phones you have and I'll invest in a pair!

After spending a few £60ish on various wireless headphones that didn't last I managed to get some Sennheiser RS180s on their outlet site for a little over £100. They are a couple of years old now and working fine (replaced earpads). But you can't get them anymore. There are other models available now.

But I am afraid the cheaper they are, the less likely to last any length of time they are, generally speaking.

These are probably the lowest price I could find that were still reasonable quality but not used them myself. They do seem to be concentrating on noise cancelling with this model. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-HD-4-50-Headphone-Cancellation-Black/dp/B01MSZSL4I/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1522845310&sr=1-1&keywords=sennheiser+noise+cancelling+wireless+headphones

But obviously I have no idea whether the headphones will do what you want (I'm not too bothered about high spec headphones myself for music, I just want something to listen to lol)

my point? is that sixty or a hundred quid for a pair of earphones is extortionate
  • Well my old flat is back on the market, its the same LL as the current one so I've asked if I can move back and come to some kind of financial agreement with him so he's not out of pocket.

If that's a no then even £200 on a pair of headphones that cancel out noise would be worth it, just for my sanity and ensure that I can get through a day at work!

In your opinion. you likely haven't used quality earphones so are simply going on price alone.
    I doubt yours were wireless?
what about comfort for long term wear?
will they last 6 months with extended day to day wear?
More to the point this thread is about blocking/dealing with noise.
A small investment to aid peace in the home can be money well spent.
