What about looking at any courier/parcel delivery companies. They always need that extra help in the warehouses sorting parcels into destinations, loading them onto outbound lorries, etc. Can be casual, work evenings, pay better than retail.
Have you visited any agenices, as they tend to recruit people for Xmas period for various places!
    Good Luck

How about mail sorter, they are advertising for Gloucester and seem quite desperate ( after the strikes), no experience needed.

Took my 16yr daughter to a recruitment evening tonight and she got a job.(at Woolworths)
They did ask her if she was ok if they asked her to work /xmas eve & boxing day but she needs the money.
She wants to go to New York in February with her college for her Art A level so will work all hours, she knows it won't be for ever.

With M&S you have to apply online and complete a really long questionnaire. So they might not actually have recruited everyone, they just might not want you to apply direct to store.

I can tell you that temp staff for Argos get 10% discount from the day they start to the day they finish. They often offer a permanent position also after the xmas period.

They pay double on bank holidays not sure about sundays.

Usually flexible with hours, and some stores are understanding of family needs. Although I have never had this problem as yet.

They will probably start you off on a basic contract of 10-16 hours a week, but overtime is readily available, just make sure you let them know you are available for it, and they will put you up for it.

Forgot to mention that because Argos are now part of the Home Retail Group, you get a huge array of benefits working for them. From holiday discounts to health cover etc, even driving lessons. And not to forget the biggest and best discount of all... 20% discount at Homebase (sister company). But I think this only comes in after 3 months of employment, but if you get on with another staff member they might let you borrow their card.

Find out if you shopping centres near you have Information Shops or Customer Care Centres. Very often shops within the centre advertise their vacancies there.

You could also try the websites of shopping centres as the shops within them sometimes advertise on the centre website. Google the shopping centre name.

    Good Luck.
