O/S Daily Tuesday 3rd April 2018

This is an !!!8220;over the garden fence!!!8221; type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It!!!8217;s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we!!!8217;re going to do today or what we!!!8217;ve achieved already. Everyone!!!8217;s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn!!!8217;t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don!!!8217;t post large pictures, or clip art !!!8211; links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don!!!8217;t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly, he's hopeful for pancakes as there's some batter left that needs using up.

Light but raining again, laying water everywhere, but forecast says weather is going to improve - we'll see.

Yesterday for lunch we had a hot quiche, scotch eggs, ham, boiled egg, salad, saute'd LO new potatoes, pasta salad/coleslaw etc, then last night those that wanted some made cheese on toast/toast etc. Dinner tonight will be fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg or LO lamb reheated in a pot of gravy in the oven with LO veg, I'll chose at some point during the day which we'll have. It's likely to be the latter as this is busiest week of the year for us so I'll just want something I can throw in the oven without too much prep.

We were very lazy yesterday - just visited the parents then chilled at home was actually nice not to be running around.

Back to work today for me - just today and tomorrow to do this week, so a short week too.

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. What a difference a day makes! Yesterday morning deep snow and cold. This morning after o/n rain the snow has almost gone and mild. The rain is due back again this afternoon.

I shall carry on with moving what I can from the kitchen today then maybe tomorrow start stripping the paper off. I hate being in turmoil.

DD and the girls are off up to Darlington today until Sunday. Coppelia rehearsals every day for our "Margot" so, to save lots of driving up and down, DD has rented an apartment for them to stay in (cheaper than the hotel they stayed in the other w/e) She is going to treat it as a mini holiday for the other two girls and, during rehearsal time, she will take them to the cinema, swimming baths etc. They popped in yesterday after Brownie camp to say bye!

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. HESTER that ankle is taking some time healing. Take care all xx

Damp and raining here again seems like we have had nothing but rain for weeks, the ground is waterlogged everywhere.

Work was ok yesterday it was very quiet in fact we only saw three customers all day, it was pointless opening really, today might be a bit busier but it wont be hectic because of the weather. The clients will be back today though so a fun day ! it will be interesting to see how long it is before I get so tired again.

Not sure about dinner tonight its either sausage mash and veg or pizza and salad will see what we feel like later.

Hester hope you ankle starts to improve soon xx

Hugs to all those missing someone x

TA good luck with your kitchen, it will be worth it I promise living in the chaos is hard though. I am waiting to hear from the insurance company about ours, it may need to come out and be done again as the floor is really buckled due to the leak :(

    Have good days all xx

    Morning all,

Normality at last! I've got a list of jobs as long as my arm and I need to talk to the pharmacist who dispenses my medication about monitored dosage systems. I've got into a right mess with my medication over the last fortnight and I'm due to have a blood test to check my kidney function. Of course taking 2 diuretics instead of one for the last fortnight isn't going to help. Neither is going without one of my blood pressure tablets going to do my blood pressure any good.

I'll see how much I can fit into my day.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

  • Morning, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

A dullish morning, not raining as yet. towels in the washer.

We have to brave market day this morning. OH's watch is ready and mine needs a new battery, as does the little crystal clock on the dresser. We will go out when the chiropodist has been.

I put the sitting room dresser on Gumtree yesterday, message this morning, so hopefully it will sell.

    Sausage something for supper tonight......

    Morning All

I'm home again, had a good weekend catching up with family, seemed to do loads. Yesterday's drive up was a bit tricky at times due to sleet and snow but I made good time. I took Aunt to meet with her son and family, had a lovely meal then I came home and my Cousin and her DH took her home again.

The house was freezing when I got home but once I was in bed I was nice and cosy and slept really well.

Well done Topsy on the half marathon, anyone who can run more than 50m has my respect!
Glad your snow has gone TA, good luck with the kitchen!
Hope everyone is well, especially RR, don't overdo things.

Right, off to sort my eats for the day, the weekend hasn't been great for the diet so need to get back on track, although I haven't eaten any chocolate at all over the weekend!

    Take care. XX

Good morning chums and another overcast grey looking day. I am back home again after my couple of days at my friends and lots to do today.

I will nip into the U3A coffee morning to say hello for 10 mintes but I really have to be at Dds for the boys as well so I may get there before lunchtime with luck.I also have a small bit of shopping to get (the only one this week thank goodness as I am away next week on holiday for a week :)

Tomorrow I am up in London with my eldest DD for our 'Ladies day out' which we have annually every year.

We have some shopping therapy in Oxford Street plus lunch, and lots of coffee. I have a couple of birthday presents to buy plus lots of Christmas and birthday vouchers to spend.

I am out again on Friday night a Murder Mystery Dinner with the local Rotary cllub which is really good fun and the food is pretty good as well

Then Saturday night I am at a big charity quiz night for the local Making Miracles charity that I am involved in then I amoff to the IoW for a week next week. So it looks like a pretty full week.

I love keeping busy and at times life gets a bit hectic trying to fit everything in, my DGS Danny in New York says 'I can't see why you can't come out here Granny ,you are retired after all ' :):):)I seem to be busier now than I have ever been and trying to find the time would be difficult at the moment Bless him I am hoping I may get out there in the autumn if I can. I know he is back here for two days next week ,but I will be away myself and shall miss him, we are like ships that pass in the night :):):)

Ah well at least I never have time to be bored :):):)

Hope you all have a good week and maybe the blooming rain may go away. I am really looking forward to some sunshine really fed up with winter now.

<<hugs>> to those in need and fingers crossed HollyH gets home this week Nelski you have been a real star keeping us all in touch with ho she is getting on

    Cheers chums

    Morning everyone,

Dull and overcast here today but at least it’s not raining!

We had a lovely lunch with DB and family yesterday but as always I over catered and we have a lot of leftovers, will start to work our way through them today.
There is a couple of baby rabbits that have started coming through the hedge into the garden to eat our grass, so cute but have to be careful when I let the dog out as she does like to chase them.

Have a good day folks x
