Hi All

Nightmare today - had to brake hard when someone pulled out in front of me and the gloss paint i just purchased jumped off the seat onto the floor magically spilling all the contents in the rear passenger foot well. The floor mat was totalled but also now figuring out what if anything i can do to clear it all up or if i need to think about a new fitted carpet (and the upheaval of removing seats etc)...

Used kitchen roll/white spirit and scooped it up with a tub, but the spirits just seamed to push it around..... now waiting for it to dry to see what to do next but any hints/tips appreciated, especially as its a lease car and will need to be sorted in about a year when it goes back... :(

Letting it dry may not be the answer as you!!!8217;ll have to use a solvent to soften the dried paint.

Is it oil or water based? Given you!!!8217;ve used white spirit I!!!8217;m guessing oil.

What does it say to clean the brushes with on the can?

In The Olden Days scraping as much as possible off and then thoroughly saturating with fairy liquid, then using the Vax would have got most of it out, but nowadays fairy liquid is just salt.
You could try a grease solvent hand cleaner like swarfega or Aldi own brand stuff, and then the Vax.

Once it dries you won't get it off.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Stick with bare metal and pretend that you've stripped the carpets out to created a lightened performance version of your car (works best if it's something like an M3 (CSL) or a 911 GT3 (RS))

Someone on netmums suggests bio-oil, (after scrapping the big bits off).

The advantage of being "a plain Ford focus" is that unless the original purchaser went for some offbeat interior, you shouldn't have too much of a problem sourcing a replacement carpet from a breakers yard or ebay.
