Moving Gas Supply
Hi,
We are looking to buy a new house and we went to see a property and the kitchen has been extended. We really liked the house.
However, as part of the extension they have moved the kitchen from one side of the house to the other and when they did the kitchen they decided against moving the gas supply to where the new cooker is and instead has electric induction hob.
We want to change it to gas hob but the vendor said there is no gas supply and it will be too much work to get gas supply there.
The boiler is in the loft.
The kitchen floor has underfloor heating so not sure if the gas supply pipe can be run under the floor which is what we want?
Is this possible and how much is all of this likely to cost?
Will we need to take out all of the underfloor heating for this?
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

If you've got underfloor heating whether electric or hotwater then it's going to be nigh on impossible to run gas pipework underneath it without digging up the floor causing a great deal or work or cost.
Try the induction hob, we've had one for nigh on eight years and would never go back to gas for cooking.
Induction is even more controllable than gas,it's faster and it's cleaner as there's no condensation from the burning gas. It's virtually impossible to burn stuff onto the hot plate (although you can get the pans themselves really hot).Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
I assume you are saying that yes, there is a gas supply to the house via a gas meter and the only problem is, there is no supply piping to the kitchen?
If the latter, i wouldnt worry about it. Anything is possible and i wouldnt let this be a blocker to buying the house.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

Yes, of course it will be possible
I could give you a price but it would be meaningless because:
a) you have not given enough detail of the floor type, underfloor heating, floorcovering, etc.
b) I won't be doing the work for you.
Best to get 3 quotes from 3 locally recommended, suitably qualified contractors.
It may be more cost effective to go up across the ceiling than across the floor; that's again something the contactors could advise you on0
