also anybody got any better ideas, looking ofr centrino, at least 512 ram, separate graphics card, decent screen, it's to be a desktop replacement

I was in a similar position recently, I didn't want to part with my hard earned cash until I'd seen the laptop. I rang my nearest local branch of Comet.........but they didn't have the model in that store.

I asked them to do a search to find the nearest Comet store with the laptop. Then I rang that branch and confirmed that they had the laptop and would show it to me. It was worth the journey to go and see it.

If you ring Comet and they say 'such and such' branch has your preferred laptop in stock, be sure to ring that branch to double check. Also, ask them if it is still in a box in the store room or out on display..........you don't want a wasted journey.

Remember that the Comet in store price is usually higher than the Comet web price.

    Good Luck

I have had my Acer Aspire 2000 (Centrino) for 12 months and it has behaved perfectly. It looks and feels 'quality'. Has 15.4 in widescreen and extra-long battery life. Thoroughly recommended.
