Uncertain how I applied for credit card

I had a credit card and loan with a bank - both had PPI. The loan is from 1999 and the credit card is 2007. I can't remember how I applied for the 2007 credit card - online or face to face. I have spoken to the bank and they say they cannot give me the terms and conditions or tell me how I took out the credit card (presumably the records are too old) so I feel unable to say for certain how it was mis-sold. Any advice? I certainly remember being in the bank for one of these and being 'encouraged' to take PPI but I'm not sure if that was just for the 1999 loan.
Second question - what are the chances of success with a 1999 loan. MSE seems to suggest these very old cases may be difficult to claim on.

If your making a claim about miss selling then you need to simply tell the truth. If you can't even remember how you applied for the card then claiming you were miss-sold in branch would be fraud.
But as it's a credit card then the PPI would have been listed on each statement whenever you paid it so if you didn't want/need it at the time then surely you would have contacted them to question it and get it removed?Second question - what are the chances of success with a 1999 loan. Just to make it clear your not making a "claim" you are making a "complaint" that you were miss sold. Just because they encouraged you to take out PPI it doesn't mean you were miss sold. You can make a complaint if you want but you need to give reasons why you think you were miss sold.
But personally i think its a bit ridiculous making a complaint for something that happened so long ago and you can't even remember the details.0
