BT Renewal Query

Hi,

I currently have BT infinity 1, Entertainment+ and weekend calls as part of a deal.

However, due to BT Sport now being charged for, when I phoned up to remove BTSport as I wasn't going to pay for it, they ended up telling me I had to renew the TV so now my TV, Fibre and line rental contracts all end at different times. My line rental appears to have started from the day they activated me, whereas the package started from the day I phoned them up and took the Black Friday deal at the time. Hence the end dates all vary as below:

TV 12month contract ends ends June 2018
Fibre 24month contract ends Nov 2018 (Discount i have ends after 18 months so in May 2018)
Line Rental Saver ends Dec 2018 (i pay yearly line rental)

My question is - when can I contact BT to discussing renewing my packages? or do i need to wait till Nov 2018 when effectively i'm out of fibre & tv contracts totally? I'm hoping to avoid paying any charges for changing and i see some deals are on at the moment so wondering if i'm far enough into my contract that they will allow me to switch?

As shown above my discounts are all ending soon and I don't particularly want to be paying the full price as this will effectively double my bill for an additional 6 months. I have seen some BT packages online, the Starter one looked appealing BUT i hear that maybe for new customers only plus it means they need to send me a different youview box and mine is working fine.

I also see a "classic + unlimited infinity" which would suit me. I'm unsure on the price though as it says it is £35.99 So i presume I would remove the £18.99 line rental as I pay yearly for it and will obviously phone in December to pay another years line rental so that would bring my monthly total down to around £17? or is this deal for new customers only?

When i login, the only offer is for a infinity 2 and TV package at £39.99 BUT it isn't worth it as i can't get 76mbps speeds, it estimates my max is 54mpbs which a minimum of 32mbps and tbh the most i see is around 35 - 38 tops so going for infinity 2 is not worth it to me. They wont show me any packages allow me to downgrade.

Thanks

Kev

Forgot to add, I've been with BT ever since I moved into the property in 2015 so have been a loyal customer so far, no late/missed payments and tbh the service has just worked without any issues. So i'm happy to remain with them if i can get a good deal.

Renegotiate Dec 2018 Your BB contract .
But phone them up June 2018 to renegotiate your TV contract or cancel it .They may offer a deal .They have no need to renegotiate your November packages at that time .
You have no real hold over them in contract .

    Alternative June 2018 .
Cancel BT and lose remaining Line Rental Paid plus need to pay remaining months of BB contract .

Loyalty counts for nothing these days .

Hi, Many thanks for your reply.

I'm not planning to cancel BT, as said I've had no issues with the service so not real need to change.

I will phone them up in May or early June and see what options there are for me. As you mentioned, I suspect they wont allow me to sign up to a new Broadband & TV package as my existing Broadband has not run out yet but you never know. They want to renew me as I've only 6 months left on the Broadband.

The next plan I thought of was to sign up to the Essential TV plan at £8 a month BUT come November when my Broadband is up, perhaps I could take a package deal then as the broadband will be eligible and the TV may class as a upgrade by moving to the Classic or Entertainment package?

If they wont allow that I may just swallow the cost for 6 months as i'd sooner the Broadband & TV contracts end at the same time as it seems you get better deals by the Package deal as opposed to doing them separate. Shame I didn't realise this last June when I cancelled the BT Sport oh well, live and learn :)

Will see what they say, many thanks for your help.

    Hi all,
Received a email Thurs or Fri to say TV contract ends in June and to call them before May 3rd to renew at £9 instead of the £10 a month it usually is. However, in the small print at the bottom it says you need to have at least 12 months left of your broadband contract or you need to renew this as well. My Infinity1 doesn't run out till Nov so I'm tempted to call them up and see what they offer and if indeed i need to renew infinity 1 as well now as doesn't seem to many deals around tbh, it seems the price will be going up for me. So wondering weather to cancel but then i'd prob need to send you viewbox back just to them resubscribe in Nov seems bit pointless OR i continue to pay £10 for 6 months and then renew both as a package.
