please dont use norton.
it will slow your computer down to a crawl. if you want decent protection, use nod32 or kaspersky etc.
alternativly you could use some of the free software posted on here0 -
Even cheaper here: http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(15121)Norton-Internet-Security-2007-oem.aspx0

And you'll probably find it'll turn into a Avast vs AVG and a comodo vs kerio game of tennis..sometimes you're the pigeon, sometimes you're the statue!0 -
i've just started using a new product form the makers of zone alarm called force field , it isolates / sandboxes your browser from the rest of your pc
it's in beta / test stage at the mo , i've had no problems with it
i also use avg anti virus / spyware / rootkit and have never had any virus problems ,0 -
Nickj- I'm working with ZoneAlarm to find users who might find the ForceField beta useful. I'm so glad to hear you downloaded it and are having a good experience thus far. I'm curious to hear your feedback.
If anyone else wants to know more about the beta, you can download it at https://www.zonealarm.com/forcefield . It's a virtualization program that works like a stunt double for your browser. It's not a substitute for antivirus or antispyware, but it does compliment them nicely by preventing nasties from getting on your computer in the first place.
Hope you'll try it out!0 -
AV software is such a personal and subjective thing. I have always used Norton stuff since the days when Peter Norton owned the firm and they were the only security software available. It is resource hungry, I admit - altho' all AV software has to be to do its job.
However, be aware that the link in the OP is for what is now the old 2007 version - you should be looking for the 2008 edition. My records show that I got my OEM version of NIS 2007 for £15.67 from Software-2-U on eBay. This also includes a year of updates.
OTOH, any AV software is better than none. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

I think I have to disagree with that. NOD32 takes up few resources and is one of the best at detection."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
